What is Individual Psychotherapy?
Individual Therapy is a collaborative 1:1 process between the therapist and the patient or client; with the common goal to inspire change or improve the quality of one’s life.
Emotional and psychological distress, maladaptive behaviours, and psychiatric symptoms, typically bring one to seek help in therapy. Therapy gives individuals the opportunity to confidentially discuss personal problems with a trained professional. While it does not make one’s problems disappear, it can equip individuals with the tools needed to work through them with more agency.
By engaging in this reflective process, one can become aware of the deep impact of one’s early life experiences on one’s personality, life and relationships. And develop an understanding of how their unconscious thoughts and feelings affect their behaviour and everyday experiences. Finding a therapist you are comfortable with and can trust is absolutely vital to this process of self-realization, personal growth and development.
As a psychotherapist, I am trained to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and compassionate environment to identify and explore alternatives to these unconscious patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviour, that might be limiting clients in some way.
